You can make lots of great Christmas crafts from paper plates – they’re great for making Christmas trees and, as you’ll see in this tutorial, for making cute reindeer.

Add a red nose to make Rudolph the reindeer or keep the nose brown for a normal looking reindeer. We used paper for the reindeer noses but pom poms would look pretty too.

How to make a reindeer paper plate craft

What you need:

  • paper plate
  • brown construction paper
  • white paper
  • black marker
  • red paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • brown paint
  • paint brush

Step by step instructions

Start by painting a paper plate brown.

If this is a classroom project, first cut out paper plates and have the children color the triangles.

Cut the paper plate in half.

Cut it in half again.

Next cut out a red (or brown) circle. You can also use a hole punch to do this.

Cut two circles out of white paper.

Glue the red circle to the triangular top of the paper plate.

Glue white circles to paper plates.

Draw eyes inside the white circles with a black marker.

Cut gauze out of brown cardstock.

Stick them on paper plates.

Done! You have made your own reindeer paper plate.

If you want, you can have your child add ears too.
