We decided to make today “World Penguin Day”. What do you think about this? Why not, huh? We found the penguins extremely interesting.

Have you seen them scratching their backs on the ice flowers? So funny, right? That’s the only way they can scratch, they don’t have flexible hands like bears.

They don’t have any arms, just two wings. And guess? They can’t fly! What? Yes, but they can hug each other and swim in the ocean.

Yes, penguins love to hug and swim, and that makes them super special birds.

Penguin Craft paper plates for kids

So today we’re going to make Buddy Pow, a paper plate penguin.

How to make handmade paper plates for penguins

What you need:

  • a paper plate
  • two self-adhesive googly eyes
  • a self-adhesive foam sheet in shimmery white
  • glitter orange self-adhesive foam sheet
  • black acrylic paint
  • white acrylic paint
  • orange acrylic paint
  • pencil
  • The ruler is circular
  • drag
  • brush


Instructions step by step

Add Buddy Pow to the world’s flock of waddling penguins.

Start by drawing a circle with a pencil and end with a heart-shaped top like in the first picture.

Step 1

Head and Face

Create a second circle. Those will be our penguin’s head and face.

Step 2


Draw two paddle-like legs at the bottom of the paper plate.

Step 3

Color the inside of the circle with white acrylic paint.

Step 4

Color the legs with orange acrylic paint.

Step 4-1

Then color the rest of the space with black acrylic paint.

Step 4-2


Take the self-adhesive googly eyes and stick them on your face.

Cut a triangle from self-adhesive orange paper…

…and add it as a nose.Step 7-1

Draw dozens of circles of different sizes on the back of the black self-adhesive foam sheet (use a circle ruler)…

…then cut them out…

…and place them on the penguin’s body.

Draw two wing shapes with your pencil.

Step 9

Take your scissors and cut around the head, wings, and legs.

Step 10


Now we’ll wait for the snow to fall and then we’ll go put Buddy Pow on the snow and ice in the yard.

Then we will go around and pick up some pebbles on the ground and place them near Buddy Pow, because they are his favorite toy.
