How to make whale crafts using paper plates

What you need:

  • paper plate
  • pencil
  • drag
  • adhesive
  • two innocent eyes
  • paint (blue, white and pink)
  • paintbrush
  • blue paper
  • black marker
  • white chalk marker (or gel marker)

Step-by-step instructions

You will need a paper plate, but you can make two whales out of it. Draw an S shape on the paper “dividing” it in half (in the middle).

Step 1

Cut along that curve to get two teardrop-shaped sheets. You will need one to make a paper plate whale.

Step 2

Paint the top part blue or another whale-like color.

Let the paint dry.

Step 3

You can also paint the bottom part or leave it as is (because that would be perfect). You can add a few white spots on the whale’s body (it will make it look cooler at the end).

Step 4

Add one or two large or small googly eyes to the whale’s head.

Step 5

Paint two pink dots under the eyes for cheeks (optional but super cute).

Step 6

Paint or draw your mouth.

Step 7

Use a black marker to draw curved lines on the whale’s belly.

Step 8

Cut a teardrop-like shape from blue paper (or paint the other half of the sheet and use that if your child is only making one whale) and glue it onto the whale.

Step 9

To make the tail fin, cut the tail shape out of paper.

Step 10

You can fold the paper in half and cut it that way – this will make both halves of the tail fin the same.

Step 11

Glue the tail fin to the whale’s tail.

Step 12

Take things to the next level by drawing small dots on the whale’s tail.

Step 13

Enjoy watching your little ones create a fun paper plate whale masterpiece.

Step 14

Isn’t this a great ocean animal craft perfect for summer projects with kids?
