Making sea animal crafts is a great summer craft project – perfect for rainy days or summer camp.
Turtles are one of those animals that are really cool to make a shell out of woven paper.
Just look at the color of the shells here – and you can make them even more colorful.

What you need:
Print the template with turtle body parts.
You can also print out paper templates or let your child cut them out themselves.
Cut out the outline of the turtle and the outline of the shell.
If you printed the paper template, cut out the rectangle outline.
Place the rectangle on top of two sheets of colored paper and cut along the outline again.
Cut strips of paper (we made them purple and pink).
Start weaving. Glue two strips of paper (different colors) together at right angles.
Next, glue all the strips of paper of the same color (in this case purple) to the strips of paper of the same color (in this case pink) – one strip on top of the pink strip and the next strip below (and so on).
Next, “weave” the other color in – knitting over and under the first color.
With this project, you don’t need to add glue while working.
Take the shell and apply glue to the entire surface (one side only).
Glue the woven paper over the seashell shape. Press down to let the glue set.
Turn over and cut along the contour (add glue if needed).
Apply glue to the shell.
Stick it on the turtle.
Done! You have completed your paper turtle craft.
The cutest turtle in town!
