This is a low-cost activity that you can do at home with your children. Sometimes it’s nice not to have to spend a lot of money on a learning activity. If you have cardboard and pom poms then this activity is for you!

How to do a pattern recognition activity on cardboard

What you need:

  • Carton
  • Drag
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • White paper
  • Purple
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green and blue paper
  • badminton ball

Materials used

Step-by-step instructions

Draw small circles on purple, orange, yellow, green and blue paper and cut them out.

Step 1

You can cut circles in many different colors.

Step 2

No matter what color you have on hand, you can cut the circles out.

Step 3

Glue ten pieces in any order onto white paper and cut them out.

This is where you can get creative with your patterns!

No matter what color you have, you can create a fun pattern.

Draw around the bottom of the cardboard.

Go ahead and cut it out. Then stick it on other cardboard sheets.

Place the white patterned paper in your chosen color on the top of the cardboard.

Use pom poms to allow your child to recreate the pattern.
