So spring is knocking on our door but there aren’t many flowers blooming yet. So it’s time for a creative solution.
We’ve designed 4 adorable printable spring wreaths that even come with 3D butterflies for added depth. What a great spring wreath idea, don’t you think? We sure are!
You’ll find two wreaths right here on our site and two hosted at Red Ted Art (you’ll find the patterns and links to the other wreath kits at the end of this tutorial).
These gorgeous wreaths are so much fun because you can really personalize them by coloring them your favorite colors.
There is a more detailed game that adults will enjoy as well and a slightly easier game that is suitable for younger children.
These babies would look stunning displayed on a wall or hung up to twist and turn in the air (we recommend printing a wreath twice and then gluing them together to get flowers and butterflies on both sides – so pretty).
Are you a teacher? Take all four spring wreaths and have your students color them. Imagine how wonderful your classroom would look with these wreaths. Or have each child make their own and take them home to give to Mom on Mother’s Day or Dad on Father’s Day.

What you need
- one of 4 (or all) printable wreaths (you’ll find the template at the end of the tutorial).
- paper – we recommend heavier printing paper although regular printing paper is fine too
- drag
- glue
- colorant

Print our sample.
Bring your favorite coloring supplies (we love Tombow pens and regular colored pencils).
Color the wreath and butterflies before cutting them out.
You can also dye it naturally later, but it’s much easier if you do it first.
Once you’re done coloring, cut out the wreath and butterflies. The little hanging holes in the wreath will be a little tricky, but definitely manageable.
Time to make the wreath pop! Take the butterflies and fold their wings up.
You can even curl them slightly by wrapping them around a felt pen – this will give them a nice curved look.
Apply a small amount of glue to the body of the butterfly (underside) and attach the butterfly to the wreath.
Use as many butterflies as you like and in any size you want.
Once your wreath is colored and decorated, you can hang it on a piece of string (or just glue it to a surface without any string).
