What did the turkey say? We don’t know, but we do know that these printable turkey puppets can be quite the talking bunch in the hands of kids.
Two fun printable puppets, one pre-colored and one for kids to color in, both guaranteed to keep kids having fun with the turkey!
*This article contains affiliate links*It looks like you’re really enjoying our range of printable puppets – our monster puppets are getting a lot of love and our fox and hedgehog puppets are definitely worth printing too (as are all the others).
Another fun fall character, especially in November, is definitely the turkey, so we just had to make one. And I think it’s great!
This little bird will be the star of many pretend play or dramatic play sessions that your little one will enjoy.
As our previous printable puppets have shown, this puppet is a great project for a kindergarten or preschool class and the kids loved it (thanks to everyone who sent in photos and videos, we loved every single one)!
Are you ready to make a turkey puppet? Let’s get started!
How to Make Our Printable Turkey Puppet
What you need
- one or both of our printable turkey puppet templates (you can get it at the end of this tutorial)
- printer
- paper (we recommend thicker printer paper, regular paper will work too)
- drag
- glue
If you print our black and white template, you’ll also need some coloring supplies – we like markers, crayons, colored pencils…
Follow the step-by-step instructions
Print out our template (you can get it at the end of this guide).
As mentioned, we recommend using thicker paper because this will make the puppet more durable (especially in the hands of children). Also, with thicker paper, the markers will not bleed if you color with them.
Regular printer paper is fine if using colored pencils or crayons. Markers may wrinkle the paper (depending on the brand).
If you’ve printed out our printable black and white turkey puppet template, the first thing to do is color it.You can use the original turkey color or mix and match any color of the rainbow.
Cut out all the pieces.Note: we have made two versions, one without fold lines on the puppet which is suitable for older children (the fold lines are on the sides of the puppet, it is best to fold it before cutting it out) and one with bold fold lines which is easier to fold for younger children.
Fold along the lines.Fold the pleats over to make them crispy. We often help ourselves by using a craft stick and running it through the folds.Apply a little glue to the top of the headscarf……and glue it to the top beak.Glue the legs to the bottom of the turkey puppet-Glue on the back.Let the glue dry and you’re ready to have fun with your printable turkey puppet.Watch Video Tutorial
