How to make fizzy pumpkin painting art

What you need:

  • printable template
  • baking soda
  • white vinegar
  • art tray
  • Paint pipette/dropper
  • small cup
  • washable paint or food coloring

Tip: We recommend printing the pumpkin template on thicker paper to ensure the best results and create a solid foundation for your child’s creative masterpiece.

Step-by-step instructions

Fill three cups with vinegar, setting the stage for wild fun!

Add 3-5 drops of magic food coloring (or washable paint) to each cup of vinegar, then mix well for a vibrant potion.

Place the paint pipette (dropper) into each tube.

Cover the bottom of a deep activity tray with baking soda, creating a snow-covered canvas for your child’s masterpiece.

Have your child use a dropper to add colorful vinegar to a tray of baking soda, creating a mesmerizing bubbling reaction.

Saturate the baking soda a bit for a really impressive display.

Give children as many colors as they see fit.

Let them play with mixing colors.

Let’s add some orange and yellow.

Have kids apply color to the entire surface of the baking soda, creating a vibrant background for their pumpkin art.

Once the baking soda has completely covered the color, carefully place the pumpkin template on top.

Gently press the template down, moving it around to create a unique design.

Let the paper rest on the baking soda and vinegar mixture for at least 30 seconds, ensuring vibrant results.

Then, gently take the paper and peel it off.

Slow.

Let the pumpkin art dry completely.

What a fun way to immerse yourself in the world of color and reaction!

Your child has created a pumpkin masterpiece using a wonderful combination of science and art.

Stay crafty!
