*This article contains affiliate links*The process of making your own Christmas cards and giving or sending them to loved ones is incredibly precious to children, and a memory they will cherish for years to come.
We love making crafts and Christmas cards, and I guess this snowman pop up card is a combination of both.
This is quite simple to make, once you understand how to fold and cut the different parts, and I’m sure, once your child gets the hang of it, they’ll come up with all sorts of different characters that can be made in a similar way.

Follow the step-by-step instructions
Take the base card (opened/unopened) and place it on top of the white cardstock and draw around the card.
We made a basic card by cutting a letter/A4 sized piece of paper in half and folding that half in half again. Small and cute.
Cut white paper.Trim it a little so that it is slightly smaller than the multicolored base.Fold a sheet of white cardboard in half.Fold carefully.
Fold the colorful background paper in half. Set aside.Take the folded white paper and cut two slits, from the folded side to the “open side” – about a third.Fold to one side, it doesn’t matter where, the important thing is that the fold is sharp.Open it up and push the cut out part inside the card (as shown below).Next, I recommend watching the video for more details, you will have to cut two more lines, but only one on one “page” of the card.Fold as first, fold and unfold.Push the card in, just like with the first “step.” Now you should slowly see the shape of the card pop up into your snowman. If you are working with younger children, two “snowballs” are enough, older children can continue to make a third ball.
Time to decorate
Once you have all the parts of your snowman ready, lay out the cardboard and draw all the details, black eyes, mouth, buttons and an orange carrot for the nose.
Cut two strips of thin brown paper and glue them together into sticks to make arms for the snowman.Add a scarf from scrap paper. And a hat to complete your pop-up snowman card.Close the cover and apply glue to one side.Glue it to the colored paper base.Apply glue to the other side and close the card.
Done! Your snowman pop-up card is complete.Want instant access to all of our printable crafts, activities, and resources?
