How to Make Woven Solar Panels

What you need:

  • yellow thread
  • big needle
  • painted blue and white
  • paintbrush
  • drag
  • glue
  • sharp eyes
  • Pink pipe cleaner
  • 2 pink pompoms

Start creating a craft by painting a sheet of paper blue.

Step 1

You may need to add a few coats of paint to bring it to life.

Step 2

Grab the scissors for this next step.

Step 3

Sun

Cut a hole in the center of the plate.

Take a needle and start poking small holes around the large hole.

Step 4

To start weaving, make sure there are enough holes.

Attach the yellow thread to the needle.

Step 6

Begin your weaving project by going straight through your weaving.

Step 7

Your first step should be to thread a piece of yarn from one end of the disc to the other.

You will continue to weave the paper sheet.

Step 9

This is what the front version of the sun will look like as you continue weaving.

Continue weaving through all the holes.

Step 11

Thread the yarn through the loops on the back for shade.

Our Sun is almost complete.

There shouldn’t be any white space visible.

Do some more weaving.

Secure the back again by threading the yarn through a loop.

Create a knot.

After you finish weaving the sun, you can cut off the excess thread.

Next, you will create the rays. Take the needle and start poking holes.

Poke holes around the sun.

Start weaving from the back of the sheet.

Create the first ray by weaving the solar thread toward the second poke hole.

We have just created the first ray of sunlight.

Go ahead and complete all the rays.

When finished, you will have rays surrounding the sun.

Secure the thread at the back.

Make sure you cut off the excess yarn.

You can draw white clouds on the blue sheet.

As you can see, a few clouds create a beautiful sky scene.

Add googly eyes to give the sun a little personality.

Using a pipe cleaner and a pom-pom, you can add a mouth and cheeks for sunshine.
