Cows are one of the cutest animals on earth? Don’t believe me? Just look into their eyes!

We love sharing all kinds of animal crafts with you, and since we found a cow section lacking (we have a cow corner bookmark tutorial on the site and a great tutorial that shows you how to draw a cow, among others) this surprisingly big mouth cow print is the perfect addition to our cow collection.

This simple craft can also be used as a coloring page for kids, so if you have a cow at home, it will be a favorite for crafts or at least coloring.

Are you ready to make a cow with its mouth open? Print out our template and let’s get started!

How to Make a Printable Surprise Big Mouth Cow

What you need:

  • our printable template (you’ll find it at the end of this guide)
  • coloring supplies (we like markers the best because they really make this craft)
  • paper (thicker printing paper like cardstock or construction paper is best as it will last longer, regular printer paper will also work)

Step by step instructions

Start by printing out our template (you can get it at the end of this tutorial). We’ve made it available in two sizes for you – one with 1 cow on the entire sheet, and one with 2 cows on each sheet. Bots are equally fun to make.

Thicker printer paper is always best when it comes to paper crafts, and we recommend using it here. However, regular printer paper will also work fine.

Once you’ve printed out your template, it’s time to color it in. Any coloring medium will do – we like using markers the best because the colors really pop, but colored pencils or crayons will work too.

You can even design the background – draw grass or a farm scene (or whatever you want). There are really no limits when it comes to designing the background – you can even put your own cow in the space ;).

Happy with your color design? Let’s move on to folding! Fold along the upper lip line – folding the entire width of the paper.

Make sure the fold is really sharp – run your finger over the fold or use a craft stick or similar tool to create a sharp crease.

Just one more fold and you’re done! Fold the top crease so it meets your lower lip line – press down to create a crease inside your mouth.

Done! Now you can open and close your cow’s mouth – fun right?
