If you are looking for a Valentine’s Day craft for kids, especially in the classroom, that isn’t “cheesy” then you must try making this wind pipe.
There are many ways for kids to decorate them (we’ll talk about this later) and they will make the most wonderful little decorations for your home or classroom.
If you’re working at home, toilet paper rolls are perfect, but for the classroom, we recommend using kitchen paper towel rolls, store-bought craft paper rolls, or making your own rolls from cardboard.
What you need:
Paint the toilet paper rolls red. You can also paint them white, pink, or any other color you associate with the holiday.
Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Once the paint is dry, punch two holes (one horizontal) in one end of the paper roll.
Thread the yarn through both holes.
Tie a knot. This will prepare the duct for hanging.
If using a paper punch, punch a few hearts out of white printer paper (or other type of paper).
If you don’t have a paper punch, you can also have your child draw a heart on a roll of paper or use their fingerprints to make a heart (this will be more personal).
Apply glue to the hearts and stick them to the paper roll.
Cut long strips of tissue paper. We chose pink and red tissue paper for our project.
Glue them to the inside of the roll (kids can also glue them to the outside if they find this easier).
Done! Your handmade Valentine’s Day Windsock toilet paper roll is ready to hang.
With thousands of printable crafts, activities, worksheets, coloring pages, and drawing tutorials, you’ll always have the resources you need at your fingertips. Perfect for parents and teachers alike!
