This heart shaped lion craft is a perfect Valentine’s Day craft that kids can do. It’s really easy and quick, making it a great project for preschoolers.
It’s made entirely from hearts (except for the eyes, although you could make them into hearts too) so it’s a great project to use in your shape learning. For a heart craft, this doesn’t require much cutting so it’s a really easy project to set up.
What you need:
Print out our template. You can use it as a printable to color on construction paper or let your kids color the shapes on the printout.
Cut out all the shapes.
If you haven’t colored the shapes yet, trace them onto cardboard.
The two large hearts joined together should be drawn on orange (or brown) construction paper as these will be the headband. Alternatively, you could also go more Valentine’s and make the headband pink, red, purple or any color really.
The medium sized heart will be the head. We choose yellow for it.
The smallest heart is the nose.
Cut out all the outlined shapes.
Fold the mane hearts in half to form a heart shaped card.
Stick on head.
And a nose on the head.
Draw a pair of eyes or glue a pair of bulging eyes.
Add a personal note inside the card.
Done!
You have finished your lion craft.
