We love making all sorts of crafts with real leaves because the different shapes and colors of leaves allow for so many creative projects. You can make all sorts of different animals and creations with your imagination running wild.
When it comes to toddlers and preschoolers, our favorite thing to do is give them a bunch of leaves, googly eyes, glue, and a piece of paper and let them get creative with their arts and crafts. You’ll be amazed at the crazy fun things they come up with (you’ll also find some inspiration here).
We also have some interesting ideas to share with you, which are useful when used with a specific theme.

This gorgeous lion leaf craft comes with a fun template for kids to color in, so it’s a great activity with leaves that focuses on fine motor skills and pencil grip.

Paper plate leaf crafts
This paper plate hedgehog craft is one of my all time favorite paper plate crafts. Oh, the spikes! So adorable!
With deep paper plates, this plate can stand on its own easily – with regular plates, you just need to clamp a roll of paper in between to separate them a bit.
Why use just paint and paper when you can make a beautiful hedgehog out of real leaves? Is there really a more suitable fall leaf project than this?
Paint them
Give your kids some paint and let them get creative turning real leaves into all sorts of little creatures…
They could be doing ladybugs, bugs, foxes or whatever.
Draw on them
Give your kids some dry leaves and a black marker and watch them get creative. From silly faces to these adorable hedgehogs. Their imagination is the limit here!
Another fun template to print and create
Turkeys are another fun theme to do in the fall, and to make things easier, we’ve prepared a printable turkey craft template… Just bring some real leaves with you on your next hike, and you’ll have a fun little fall leaf activity.
Paper Roll With Leaves
When two super popular crafting materials collide… Magic happens!
Combine leaves with paper rolls and create some awesome creatures. We loved making this paper roll turkey, and we knew a peacock would be great too.
Make flowers
Gorgeous flowers are another fun thing you can make. You can make them stand up like we did with this sunflower craft or have the kids glue the leaves onto a piece of paper.
Another combination of Leaves and Paper Plates
Use a paper plate as a base to glue all the leaves onto and create a beautiful handmade turkey or even a peacock.
Pinceone + Leaf
Why stick with one natural material when you can have two? Pick up a pinecone and let the crafting fun begin!
