With the most festive time of the year approaching, most parents and caregivers are busy looking for ideas for fun projects to do with their children and create memories. This Christmas snowman craft idea is suitable for a wide range of ages, making it a fun activity to do.

You probably already have all the necessary items at home, if not, you can always make a few adjustments to make this craft.

How to make 3D paper snowman crafts

What you need:

  • paper or card base
  • white paper
  • paper of several colors or coloring materials to color the paper
  • drag
  • glue

Optional: circular paper punch

Step by step instructions

Cut out a few circles from white paper.

You can use a paper hole punch (kids love it) or use a drinking cup as a stencil for the circles (or any other round object). Trace around the cup and cut out the circles with scissors.

You will need quite a few, 8-12 should be enough.

There’s nothing wrong with having more or less – older kids will enjoy making snowmen with more circles because they look fuller, while younger kids can use less to finish the craft sooner and not lose interest during the process.

Apply glue to one of the circles and stick it onto the background paper.

Cut a square for the snowman’s hat (from black or other colored paper).

Also, cut a strip of paper in different colors to decorate the hat (totally optional).

Glue the paper strip to the hat, cutting off excess paper if necessary.

Apply glue to the back of the hat and stick it on top of the white circle you glued earlier on the background paper.

Cut a long strip of black paper and glue it onto the hat to finish.

Next, let’s make a scarf. Cut a rectangle from paper in the color you want and glue it to the bottom of the white circle.

Fold the circles

Fold the remaining circular piece of paper in half.

We ended up with 12.

Take one of the folded circles, glue one half…

And paste it on top of the white circle (half).

Take the remaining folded circle, apply glue and stick it to the other half of the white circle.

Continue gluing the remaining folded circles on top of each other.

Once you have finished gluing everything, glue the last two together.

Open them up and spread them out.

Time to decorate

Let’s make the eyes. Cut two small strips of thin black paper and roll them into a roll (gluing the ends together).

Apply glue to them and stick them on the snowman.

Cut the nose, fold the head part wider, apply glue to the folded part.

Stick the snowman on.

Done! Now you know how to make a 3D Paper Snowman.
