Coin Toss Easter Game for Kids

This is a fun Easter game from my childhood. My grandfather and I often played this game over and over again.

I don’t know if this is something he came up with or picked up from someone else but either way but I think it’s really awesome and can’t wait to play (for many reasons).

We never had plastic Easter eggs, to be honest, I didn’t even know if you could buy them in our local stores at the time, so we always made more than one batch of colored eggs.

A batch is always for “show” – they are the batches that are on display and are usually the batches that have the best results.

These are not for eating as they will be on display for days (these are the same things we used to play this game with).

Other batches are produced for eating and giving as gifts because they have an element of freshness that the “demonstration” batches lack.

How to play the Easter coin toss game

To play this Easter game, you’ll need hard-boiled, colored Easter eggs – preferably ones that can’t be eaten anymore (no need to waste good eggs).

You can also use foam eggs although the game will be a bit more difficult.

Lots of coins – cents, dollars (Euros or any other currency). Basket to put eggs in.

Put a few eggs in the basket (actually one is enough) – there’s still plenty of room in the basket.

Decide the distance from where the game will take place (we often use tape to mark standing spots).

Players take turns throwing coins toward the basket – aiming for the egg.

If the player hits the egg so that the coin touches the egg and stays inside the egg (without bouncing away or slipping), the player takes all the coins in (and around) the basket.

This Easter game is great for hand-eye coordination, visual motor skills and because there are great rewards if you win (which I did a lot – thanks to my grandfather who is the master who helped me win when I didn’t know I was allowed to win).
