There’s something special about receiving a great Valentine’s card, and there’s something even more special about giving one. We really like conversation hearts, they’re sweet in so many ways and have really become synonymous with Valentine’s Day.
These little candies inspired our Conversation Hearts Valentine Card, which comes in 18 different designs (18 in color and 18 in black and white to color in). You could even glue them together to make a gorgeous DIY heart-shaped notebook or even make a heart-shaped floral card like we did.

Valentine’s Day Hearts Conversation Card (Printable Template)
What you need:
- our printable template (you can get it at the end of the tutorial)
- paper (regular or thicker printer paper)
- drag
- coloring supplies if you print in black and white in the version
- paper clip or mini clothespin (optional)
There are many different types of conversation hearts to suit different needs and situations. For true lovers, heart cards with the words “I love you”, “You and me”, “#love” will be the perfect choice. Want to give a Valentine’s Day card to your friend to celebrate your friendship? “Best friend”, “Girl power” or “Thank you” will be suitable, especially Thank you cards because you can write all the wonderful things about your friend on the card. Thank you cards can be applied to almost anyone!
Are you a teacher and want to give your students Valentine’s Day cards? “You rock,” “You are Great,” “Smile,” or even a generic V-day card “XOXO” will do.

Print out the conversation heart cards. We think they look best on thicker card stock, but regular card stock works just as well.
If you printed the color (black and white version) now is the time to color it in. We like to use markers because they are bright but since this is a conversation heart, colored pencils and crayons will work great for pastel coloring.
You can color the entire card or just the hearts with text inside.
Cut out the image.
Flip it over and write your message. While chat hearts already have messages on them, a personalized message inside the pop-up heart would be appreciated. You can also skip this step for now and write your message at the end.
Once you have completed your message, turn the template over and fold along the dotted lines. Make sure the folds are crisp – the crisper the folds, the easier it will be to fold the conversation heart card.
Now comes the simple folding part (it may look a bit complicated in the photo, so we recommend watching the video tutorial for this part).
To get the heart shape, you need to push the folds that are not on the outline of the conversation heart, inside and between the conversation hearts on the front and back. It’s really simple, although it may sound a little complicated. The video tutorial makes this part of this DIY V-day card super simple.
Done? Yes, you’re done! Now to secure the card, you can clip it in place with a paperclip or mini clothespin.
