Disguise a Turkey as an Elephant Printable Template

It’s that time of year again, when turkeys go crazy trying to disguise themselves to avoid becoming Thanksgiving dinner. Disguising a turkey in our elephant print pattern gives your child the opportunity to create a fun looking elephant costume for their turkey.

We really love turkey disguise projects, which are a fun Thanksgiving craft that also encourages kids to do some creative writing. It is not enough for a turkey to disguise itself; Ask the children to explain why they think this disguise would be effective.

So this Thanksgiving, our turkey decided to hide in plain sight by wearing an elephant costume. After all, the elephant is an animal that cannot be messed with.

Pssst, we also have a firefighter turkey in disguise in case the elephant doesn’t work out.

How to make a disguised Turkish elephant

What you need:

  • our elephant turkey camouflage print (you can get this one for free at the end of the guide, or you can get the whole set with over 25 character costumes)
  • Coloring materials – markers are great, crayons or crayons can also be used
  • scissors and glue

The best paper for this is printer paper or thicker cardstock, but using regular printer paper is also quite good.

Step-by-step instructions

Print out a piece of paper that says “I’m not a turkey, I’m…” and have your child color it to look like a regular turkey.

We colored with markers, but any coloring supply will work.

Next, get another turkey print. Color the body blue and the tail bush color.

Also, let your child color the elephant-shaped parts.

Cut out the blue turkey print and camouflage pieces.

Disguise yourself. Glue a pair of elephant legs onto the turkey’s body.

Also glue the ears and trunk.

Next, take the paper with the normal-looking turkey and fold it along the dotted line below the turkey.

Apply glue under the turkey body (on the folded part).

Glue the turkey disguised as an elephant onto the folded part, making sure it covers the normal-looking turkey.

All done!

Now, this turkey can change its outfit at will and avoid becoming dinner.

Writing paper is also included and you can stick them on your craft.
