How to make a Christmas tree with simple buttons
What you need:
- optional: Christmas tree templates – you can get more templates at the end of this tutorial
- green construction paper (or green painted cardboard)
- button types
- drag
- glue
Step-by-step instructions
Print out the Christmas tree template. Using a template is optional here as you can keep things simple and just cut larger triangles out of green paper.
Using construction paper is best. Another great alternative is to recycle old cereal boxes and similar cardboard and paint them with green paint.
Start gluing on the buttons. If you have larger buttons, start with those, as you can always fill the space with smaller buttons.
The glue works well enough with small, flat buttons; For larger buttons, we recommend PVA glue or other craft glue.
Fill the tree with buttons; you can fill in the entire border, make just a few baubles, or make your Christmas tree look like it has Christmas lights.
Finish with a star at the top; You can use a star button or any other star-shaped decoration, or you can cut it out of paper (see our star drawing tutorial).
The button completes the artistic Christmas tree
We love how these turned out.
You can even combine them with other techniques. Quilling is a great thing (just stars or some decorations to go with the buttons).
You can also add string to these and use them as Christmas decorations for your tree.
Or make your own Christmas banners by stringing them together.
Very happy!
