Cows and buffaloes are so much fun! They are beautiful animals and if you ever get the chance to see them, you have to agree that they have the most beautiful eyes in the animal kingdom.
We thought it was time to add to our collection of farm animal craft ideas, as there aren’t many on our site yet, and this cow craft idea is just the first of many you’ll see in the coming weeks. And it’s not the only cow craft idea either.
We’re very crafty with paper because we like quick, easy, and frugal crafts, and there aren’t many craft materials as frugal as paper, and certainly not many that are as versatile.

How to make a simple paper cow craft
What you need to make this craft project
- white cardboard (2 sheets of A4 / letter is enough)
- scissors or paper cutter
- pink paper
- beige paper
- black marker
- brown paper

Cut strips of paper. Ours were about a “finger” wide.
We used 4 longer strips for the body and 4 shorter strips for the head. Depending on the width of your paper strips, you may need more or less (less if they are wider).
We cut the long strips to the length of the A4/letter paper and the short strips to the width of the paper. It’s easy to measure them that way.
Take 3 (or all) long strips of paper and draw black spots on them to create the cow’s fur pattern.
You can also do them in short strips, but the craft will still be beautiful even if you don’t.
Take all 4 long strips and gently fold them in the middle – this will make the next step easier.
You do the same with the short strips.
Glue the strips together in the middle. Start by gluing two strips at a 90 degree angle – forming a cross.
Glue the remaining two pieces in between the first two pieces.
Now let’s make a paper ball. Roll the strips of paper and tape them together at the top.
Follow all the strips until you form a ball.
Repeat the above steps with shorter strips.
Glue the small ball on top of the large paper ball.
Cut out a pink snout and draw nostrils.
Stick it on the small ball.
Apply two eye patches or draw eyes.
Cut horns out of beige paper, fold them at the bottom, apply glue and glue them to the head.
Your easy paper cow craft is starting to look beautiful
Cut a small circle out of white cardstock. This will be the base to keep your easy paper cow craft from falling over.
Cut out two legs and glue them to the base.
Glue the paper cow to the base.
Cut out the two front legs and glue them to the cow.
Done! You have made a cute and simple paper cow!
