Fan Folded Paper Christmas Tree

It’s time to make a festive fan-shaped paper Christmas tree! This handmade Christmas tree can easily be used as a decoration or make a great DIY Christmas card.

You only need paper to make one, but your child can also get even more creative when decorating their creations.

How to make a fan-shaped Christmas tree with folded paper

What you need:

  • Paper comes in many different colors

Step-by-step instructions

Let’s set the scene! Cut two large circles, one from green paper and one from white paper, they should be the same size.

Make a wavy cut on the blue paper.

Apply glue to white paper and stick it to heavier backing paper (cardboard).

Apply glue to the blue paper and stick it on top of the white paper.

You can also do the opposite, cutting the white paper and pasting it on top of the uncut blue paper. You have now created your snow scene.

Cut an elongated rectangle from brown paper and glue it onto the scene (near the bottom). This makes our Christmas tree trunks handmade.

Next, take a piece of green paper. Slowly start folding it.

Fold it all the way back. Once done, fold the folded paper in half.

Glue or staple together.

Apply glue on one side…

…and glue it to your winter scene.

It’s time to decorate. You can roll paper towels into small balls, you can also do the same with regular paper or you can use pom poms. Small buttons work too! Stick little festive ornaments on your tree.

Cut a small star out of paper and glue it to the top of the tree.

You can also add snowflakes – use a metallic marker or even better, white paint and fingers or Q-tips to create snowflakes.
