Fish Pencil Shaving Art

Never throw away pencil scraps again, this fish pencil scraps art is just one of the many ways you can use them.

This is a great craft material for kids and a great recycled craft product.

We sharpen our crayons weekly so we always have crayons on hand to use – if you have a lot of crayons too and want to know how to use them, you can easily do this project with your kids.

This project is a great summer craft activity for kids that can be done at home or at summer camp.

They can create a school of small fish or a single large fish.

Either way they look fun.

How to make pencil fish scraping art

What you need:

  • cardboard
  • black pencil
  • glue
  • Googly eyes
  • colored pencils
  • Grinder

Happy crafting!

Step by step instructions

Use black eyeliner to draw a fish shape on cardboard.

Decorate the fishtail with simple motifs.

Apply some glue to the googly eyes and glue them to the cardboard. Draw some small bubbles around the fish.

Color the fish and bubbles with colored pencils and make sure to leave the fish body blank.

Sharpen the pencil and save the pencil shavings.

Apply some glue and start adding wood chips as shown. Make a few rows using different colors.

Done!
