All the Halloween monsters on these cards will open and close their mouths as you open and close the cards. How sweet is that? And those fangs on the vampires!

We’re sure these adorable and spooky cards will spark your child’s love of making pop-up cards and they’ll be designing their own soon (if not, we have plenty more pop-up card templates).

These are also great Halloween crafts for the classroom because they are easy to prepare and easy to make.

How to Make Halloween Pop Up Cards

What you need:

  • our pop up card template
  • black or red cardboard
  • drag
  • glue
  • optional: coloring items

Step by step instructions

Print out the template (black or white or full color). Printer paper or thicker cardstock will work best, however this craft can also work well on regular paper, especially if you use cardstock as the base (black or red).

If you print out black and white Halloween cards, have your child color them first.

Next, cut the template along the outer outline of the rectangle.

With the pop up vampire card, you will also need to cut out a set of fangs.

Fold the card in half along the dotted line running through the middle of the template.

You will see a straight line running through the mouth, cut along that line with scissors.

There are two dashed diagonal lines near the mouth line. Fold along those lines.

Open the two diagonal folds you just made. Open the entire card.

With the design facing you, push your fingers through the “mouth” from the back of the design (one hand on the top of the design and one hand on the bottom).

Continue pushing your finger through while also slowly closing the card (this time the design will be on the inside). Set aside.

Take a piece of red paper (the same size as the sample or larger) and fold it in half.

Take the pop up card template, glue one half and stick it inside the folded card.

Next, apply glue to the remaining half…

And close the card, pressing firmly to let the glue set.

Apply a small amount of glue to the fangs and stick them in the designated position.
