When your child creates their snow masterpiece, the appeal of this craft will truly shine through. It’s a fun combination of sensory play and creative expression, making it a fun activity for kids.

Kids watching their handprints transform into a row of fun snowmen is sure to bring smiles and excitement, while adding a little holiday magic to your craft session.

How to make a handprint snowman craft idea

What you need:

  • drag
  • glue
  • construction paper (brown and white)
  • Non-toxic white paint
  • painted orange
  • paintbrush
  • black marker

Step-by-step instructions

Prepare a sheet of construction paper.

Glue a smaller sheet of brown construction paper onto the white background (this step is optional, but it will make a nice frame).

Paint four or five fingers and the top of the palm with white paint.

This will be the body of the snowman!

Help your child press his hand firmly against the brown background.

Let the paint dry a bit.

While the handprints dry, have kids add white dots around the background to create a snowy scene. They can use a brush or Q-tip. Fingerprint also works quite well (little finger).

Draw eyes and buttons on each snowman’s body using a black marker.

Draw cute stick-shaped arms on the snowman using the same black marker.

Now it’s time for the carrot nose!

Have kids use orange paint to add this adorable detail to each snowman. Alternatively, you can also use a piece of orange paper.

Give the snowmen happy faces by drawing smiling mouths with a black pen.

Finally, step back and admire your child’s adorable handprint snowman creation.

Hang this festive scene in your home to spread winter cheer throughout the season or turn it into a handmade card to give to friends and family!

Aren’t they cute?
