As the tree begins to take shape, the anticipation increases! This craft is intended to allow children to explore their creativity while practicing fine motor skills such as cutting and dotting.
The process of layering paint and carefully positioning the stencil creates a sense of accomplishment with each step. Plus, watching the crisp white outline rise against the green background is a moment of pure magic that kids and adults alike love. It’s these small, joyful moments that make Christmas crafts memorable and special.
What you need:
Start with a sheet of construction paper. We think green is best for this project, but any other color will work.
Print the Christmas tree template (whichever you like best) on plain white paper.
If you don’t have a printer, help your child draw and cut out a tree shape!
Ask them to carefully cut out the plant sample and place it on the green paper.
This is where the magic begins! Take white paint and a sponge. Don’t have a sponge at hand? Let children use their fingers!
Let your child start dabbing paint around the edge.
Have them dab around the cut to create a snowy border.
Carefully remove the tree form from the green paper to reveal the tree outline.
So satisfying!
Look at that perfect tree shape!
White paint gives a cool, snowy effect.
Now let it dry a bit.
It’s time to decorate!
Have children glue colorful balls of wool all over the tree to make decorations.
You can also use paper rolled into small balls.
And there you have it!
A bright, festive pom pom Christmas tree is both fun to make and fun to display.
Enjoy crafting!
