How to Draw a Dragonfly – Step by Step Drawing Tutorial

Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw a dragonfly? It’s easy – just follow our step-by-step drawing tutorial and you’ll be drawing this gorgeous insect yourself in no time.

How to draw a dragonfly step by step

What you need:

Instructions for drawing dragonflies step by step

Step 1

Start by drawing the dragonfly’s head. A simple circle or oval to start things off.

Step 2

Next, draw an oval below the head. This will form the first part of the dragonfly’s body.

Step 3

Finish off the body – draw a longer, slightly rounded shape for the body.

Step 4

Add details to the head and body. Draw two lines for the eyes on the head and a few lines on the body.

Step 5

Draw the first pair of wings (top).

Step 6

And now the second pair of wings.

Step 7

Draw a line on each wing.

Step 8

Add more detail to the wings.

Step 9

This one is optional: draw the legs.

Step 10

Congratulations! You have learned how to draw a dragonfly. The last thing to do is color your dragonfly drawing.
