Roses are, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful (and most fragrant) flowers there is. We’ve created this tutorial in a way that is both easy to draw and beautiful no matter your skill level, capturing the essence of the flower. This rose drawing has a few more steps than most of our other tutorials, as we wanted to make the steps as clear and easy to follow as possible. Roses may seem difficult to draw, but we promise they’re not.
Many beginners have experimented with this flower and all have been surprised and delighted at how beautiful the roses they grow turn out (so we’re really, really happy about that).

Step 1:
Start your rose drawing by drawing an oval. It doesn’t have to be perfect, as nothing in nature is perfect. However you draw it, your rose drawing will turn out great.
Step 2
Draw a small spiral inside the oval. The direction of the spiral doesn’t matter, nor does the number of turns.
Step 3
Draw a heart around the spiral – starting at the top with the heart opening touching the oval. Again, don’t worry about the shape of the heart, the left and right sides don’t have to be the same.
The other parts of the heart do not need to touch the oval, but there is nothing wrong if they do.
Step 4
Draw a straight line in the shape of the heart – starting at the top and making a nice curve (like a very loose S). Draw a pointed shape (V) and bring it down to the bottom of the heart.
Step 5
Create a similar shape on the other end of the heart, this time without the pointed tip, and draw a straight line so that it touches the previous shape.
Step 6
Now draw a U shape (you can make it slightly curved at the top). Can you see the rose forming?
Step 7
Add some details. Draw a curve from the top of the V to the bottom of the flower.
Also, add two lines connecting the oval to the heart – if your “heart” doesn’t touch the oval on either side.
Step 8
Draw some sepals under the flower.
Step 9
Draw the stem and leaves.
Step 10
Color your rose drawing.
