Snowmen are great Christmas crafts (you can even make Christmas cards) and winter crafts for kids to make – you can make them super festive or keep them simple.

These also make a great classroom craft because they will look great displayed on a bulletin board, especially if you use different colored backgrounds to make them.

What you need:

  • White paper
  • black paper
  • orange paper
  • brown paper
  • colored cardboard as background
  • drag
  • glue
  • black marker

Step-by-step instructions

Prepare your documents.

You will need a larger rectangle for the background – we used a rectangle the size of a card (we folded a sheet of paper in half twice and cut it to get the rectangle) .

Next, you will need 3 white paper strips, 2 the same size and one smaller (and thinner) strip.

A strip of black paper (approximately the size of the smaller white strip) to hold the paper.

A half circle from black paper will also be needed for the snowman’s hat.

If you want to make the snowman hat more colorful, you will also need a thin strip of paper (in this tutorial we use blue).

Last but not least, a small triangle for the nose (you can also use an orange or red pom pom instead) and two brown twig-shaped pieces for the hands.

There is no need for exact measurements here, crafts will turn out great.

Start by making the snowman’s body.

Take three strips of white paper and tape the ends together, creating 3 rolls of paper.

Let the glue set, once it has set, apply glue to one of the larger rolls of paper…

…and glue it to the bottom of the base paper.

Take the second large roll, apply glue and stick it on top of the first roll.

Do the same with the smaller roll of white paper.

Next take the black half circle and apply glue on one side.

Glue the half circle onto the snowman (the smallest of the three paper rolls).

Take the black strip of paper and roll it into a roll (glue the ends together).

If you want to decorate it, tape thin (blue) paper strips around the black paper roll (at the bottom).

Apply glue to the roll of paper and stick it onto the card, just above the black half circle.

Add a little glue to the ends of the branches (brown paper branches) and stick them on the snowman.

Draw the eyes, mouth, and buttons with a black marker (or another marker if you want the buttons to be colorful).

Add a little glue to the orange triangle and stick it on the snowman.

All has been done! Now you know How to make snowman paper crafts and you can show it to your children.
