Spring projects are so much fun; we love making them (check out this Agamograph of the ladybug life cycle or make a ladybug paper craft).

Go ahead and learn how to draw a ladybug with our tutorial. We are sure that your child will be able to draw a beautiful ladybug.

In spring, flowers bloom, insects fly everywhere, and we create and enjoy it all together in the garden.

Our project today is a little ladybug perched on the tip of a flower.

We had so much fun doing this project – it really warmed our hearts. Plus, it’s so cute.

So guys, if you decide to take on this project, let us guide you step by step.

How to make a ladybug paper craft

What you need:

  • light blue cardboard
  • dark blue paper
  • light green paper
  • dark green paper
  • plastic straw
  • drag
  • glue
  • big round eyes or big paper eyes
  • small googly eyes or small paper eyes
  • black marker
  • pencil (and eraser to erase pencil marks later)
  • black cardboard
  • red paper
  • circular ruler
  • compass

Step by step instructions

Flower

First, take a compass and draw a circle with a diameter of 8 cm on light blue cardboard.

Use scissors to cut out a circle.

Next, glue the circle onto the dark blue paper.

The petals

Use a circular ruler and draw eight petals around the light blue circle.

We draw a circle with a diameter of 3.5 cm.

You can draw the petals by hand if you don’t have a circular ruler.

Continue using scissors to cut the flower.

Trunk

Cut plastic straws into 9 cm long pieces.

Wrap a light green paper around the straw and secure it with glue.

If there is excess paper, cut it off.

Green straw is the stem of the flower.

The leaves

Draw two leaves on a sheet of light green paper.

Use scissors to cut off the leaves.

Glue the leaves to the stem as shown.

On a sheet of dark blue paper, draw a small vase.

Use scissors to cut off the body of the pot.

Apply a little glue to the back of the pot and stick it to the base of the tree trunk.

Now take the stem, apply some glue to the top and attach the flower.

Cut a piece of green paper – rectangular – and glue the stem to it.

The body of a ladybug

To make the ladybug, punch out a black circle and a red circle.

Cut out 1/3 of the red circle and glue the remaining part on top of the black circle.

Using a black marker and ruler, draw a straight line dividing the red section into two parts.

Ladybug spots

Now draw black circles on the red part, four on each side.

Wings

Take a circular ruler and draw two small circles on the red paper. Our circles are 1.5 cm in diameter.

Now draw two rectangles (0.5 x 1.5 cm) touching the circles.

Cut out circles from rectangles. The circles will be the wings, and the rectangles will help attach the wings to the ladybug’s body.

Cut a small vertical line (0.5 cm) down the middle of the ladybug.

Use the needle of the compass to cut.

Now push the rectangles through this cut.

Flip the ladybug over and glue the rectangles onto the black circle.

Separate the wings and press lightly to make it look nice.

Draw a black circle on each wing.

Take small paper/fake eyes and glue them onto the ladybug’s head.

Beard

Next, add two small black antennae to the ladybug’s head.

Ladybug’s Booth

Cut a strip of light blue (1cm wide and 3cm long) and fold it into a P shape.

Next, you will glue the ladybug to one side of the П shape and then glue the other side of the П shape to the flower in the middle.

Wait for the glue to dry, then use your index finger to make the ladybug wiggle.

Eyes and mouth of flower

Add big paper eyes/bulge eyes to the head of the flower.

The ladybug will stand between the eyes.

Draw a small black circle for the flower mouth.

All has been done!

We hope you have fun creating your ladybug on flower.

Stay tuned for more!
