How to Make a Llama Puppet Craft

What you need:

  • white, cream, blue, pink, yellow, orange paper
  • drag
  • glue
  • color marker
  • pencil
  • tape
  • wood
  • small green pom-pom

Step by step instructions

Llama

Cut out the pattern.

Use the template to trace the camel shape onto the desired colored paper.

Draw the tail, mouth and hair on a piece of yellow paper.

Once you have finished cutting out the camel, you will want to start by coloring the feet.

Head

Camel ears can be pink.

The piece of fur you drew and cut earlier will be glued onto the camel’s head.

Next, attach the mouth part to the camel.

Now is your chance to draw a smile and eyes on the camel.

Using the same pink marker you used to draw the ears – now it’s time to add the blush marks.

Tail

Don’t forget to add the camel’s tail.

The finished llama should look like this.

The blanket

Next, you will make a colorful blanket for your llama. Start by cutting a square out of blue paper.

Choose different colors to cut out squares, but cut out a slightly smaller square each time.

Yellow is a great color choice!

Orange is a nice color too.

You will layer each blanket together, gluing each square on top of the other.

The final product should look like the square below.

Belt

Cut a long strip of thin blue paper.

Then cut a thin strip of yellow paper.

We are making a harness for our llama.

Fold it around the camel’s neck as shown.

Make sure you do both colors.

Glue the blanket over the camel.

One of the final finishing touches is adding a green pom-pom to the camel.

log

Use a stick as a puppet for the camel’s back.

Make sure it is firmly attached to the camel’s back.

It needs to be taped tightly because children can play with it very roughly.

Now the camel is ready for more adventures!

Isn’t this camel cute?

You can make a whole camel family if you like.

Follow along and have fun crafting.
