Lunar and Chinese New Year Crafts

It’s time to celebrate Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year! Discover all kinds of fun and easy Lunar New Year crafts for kids. From roaring Chinese dragons to beautiful paper lantern decorations, we have just the craft ideas for your children to celebrate the occasion.

Compared to the Gregorian calendar, Chinese New Year/Chinese New Year falls on a slightly different date each year, because the year follows the lunar calendar – usually in late January or early February.

Lunar New Year is widely celebrated in many Asian countries, of which Lunar New Year is one of the most famous occasions. Lunar New Year begins on the day the new moon appears from January 21 to February 20; This is the most important holiday in Chinese culture and it is celebrated accordingly.

2. Chinese dragon puppet

3. Chinese Dragon paper plate

Paper plates can also be used to make gorgeous Chinese dragons! And what’s even better is that your kids can make it in such a way that they can use their creations as a puppet to play with.

4. Talking clothespin puppet

They are so easy to make and so fun to play with! We really adore these Moon Dragon clothespin puppets. With four different dragon designs, your kids will play with them for hours. And they can color it themselves!

5. Paper lanterns

Paper lanterns are indispensable when it comes to this celebration. There are many ways you and your kids can do it, and we think this one looks pretty fun!

6. Handmade moon cupcake liners

These dragons are known for their long, almost snake-like bodies and this is why cupcake liners are perfect for making a dragon! Your child can use any color they like or choose more traditional colors. Folding or cutting cupcake liners in half will help them easily form dragon bodies.

7. Fire-breathing dragon art

A craft with paper swirls of fire coming out of a dragon’s mouth? Yes, please! This project is perfect for making a classroom display.

8. Scroll Moon Dragon

Another fun craft perfect for decorating your home or classroom! Decorated with a swirling dragon shape. These spiral paper rolls will spin in the air, looking amazing. We’ve created several different designs to color (or use pre-colored designs) as well as a blank design for your child to create unique patterns.
