Show your appreciation for all the moms out there by making a cute craft – we have so many Mother’s Day crafts that you’re sure to find something your kids will love to make (be sure to check out our Mother’s Day Handprint Butterfly Craft and Egg Carton Flower Craft).

We bet you already have the supplies you need to make this card in your drawer (mainly paper, glue, and scissors), so let’s get started.

How to make a floral card to celebrate Mother’s Day

What you need:

  • blue paper/cardboard for the card (or any color you like)
  • pink/red paper for flowers (or any color you like)
  • yellow paper
  • green paper
  • glue
  • double sided foam tape
  • drag
  • round hole punching machine
  • pencil
  • circular ruler

Step by step instructions

Card

Take the blue paper…

…and double it.

Measure 4cm wide and 3cm long, then draw straight lines.

Our signs are a bit blurry in the picture, but hopefully you can see them.

Next, use scissors to cut along the marked lines.

Here is the card. It opens like a book.

Use scissors again and round all the corners.

Flower stem

Take the green paper and cut it into two 1cm wide strips.

Divide each green strip into four sections for a total of eight sections.

Bend each green piece and glue the ends together. See picture for instructions.

Now we will start making the stem. Start at the bottom of the card and glue a green piece onto the blue cardstock.

Continue gluing the green parts on top.

Finish the trunk by gluing the remaining green part.

The leaves

Cut a square with a side of 6 cm and fold it in half.

Draw a leaf with a pencil as shown in the picture.

Cut out the leaves and unfold the folded green paper. You will have two green leaves joined together.

Apply a little glue to the back of the leaves and stick them under one of the stem sections (somewhere in the middle of the stem).

Flower

Punch out a yellow circle using a circle punch.

Stick it on the tree trunk.

Take the pink paper and use scissors to cut two 1.5 cm long strips.

Divide each pink stripe into four sections, for a total of eight sections.

Bend each pink piece and glue the ends together like we did with the green paper earlier.

Arrange the pink pieces as shown in the picture and glue them to the yellow circle.

Now cut two 1cm long pink strips.

Divide them into four more parts, so you will have eight parts in total.

Bend them and glue the ends together.

Arrange them “inside” the first row of pink flowers and glue them to the yellow circle.

Now cut two more pink strips. Make them 6mm wide.

Divide them into four parts for a total of eight parts.

Bend them and glue the ends together like we did with the previous ones.

Arrange them “inside” the second row of flowers and glue them with quality glue to keep them in place.

Use a circular ruler and draw a small circle on the yellow paper to fill in the middle of the flower.

Use scissors to cut out the yellow circle.

Stick some double sided foam tape over this circle.

Glue the circle in the middle of the flower as shown in the picture.

And you’re done!

You can also make multiple types with different colors as you like.

Now think of the message you want to write inside, write it down and your Mother’s Day card is ready.
