Carrots are definitely delicious and we’re sure bunnies would agree. They also make a great Easter craft theme.

We’ve been busy making all sorts of Easter crafts and have lots of ideas for bunnies and chicks but what about carrots? It’s time to step up our carrot game.

We love making 3D paper crafts, it’s just so much more fun to see the paper take on dimension. We’ve had the coolest alligator craft that comes to life as you work it and a cute caterpillar made in a similar way to this carrot and we were pretty sure this one would be awesome too. And it was.

This project would be fun to do in the classroom (and of course at home), you can get our template (you’ll find it at the end of this tutorial) or just let your kids plan it themselves to get the right shape.

If you hang all the finished products, you will have the cutest wreath ever. Imagine these paper crafts hanging on the wall of your home or classroom. You don’t have to stick with orange carrots (although that is the most popular).

Want to make your wreath even more fun? Mix it up by making paper rabbits (just search for paper rabbits in our search bar) and paper chickens (search for paper chickens) and adding them to your wreath. Fun!

What you need

  • our paper carrot craft template (you can get it at the end of the tutorial)
  • orange paper (thicker printer paper or regular printer paper will work)
  • green paper
  • printer
  • drag
  • glue

Tip: If your printer has its own intelligence like ours, we recommend printing one page first and then printing the other. On our first try, we inserted a green sheet of paper and an orange sheet of paper and asked the printer to print a sample. And the orange part printed on the green sheet and vice versa. Then we inserted the orange sheet first and then the green sheet and the printer (which we promise we love) printed it wrong again. Intelligence of its own!

Or follow the step-by-step instructions below

Print this carrot craft template.

Step 1

Get ready for some serious pruning!

Start by cutting out the craft outline. We start by cutting out the root part of the carrot.

After cutting along the outline, continue cutting along the dashed lines.

Cut, cut, cut!

Step 2

Now it’s time to fold.

You will see a straight line at the end of the paper strips (which you created by cutting multiple times).

Fold along that line.

Step 3

There is also a line at the base of the paper strips.

Fold along that line again.

Once all the strips have been folded at the base, unfold them.

Step 4

Time to paste!

Make some arches! Apply glue to the folded end of the paper strip, create an arch, and press down onto the carrot root.

Do the same with all the paper strips.

We recommend starting with the smallest arches and working your way up to the largest, it will be easier this way.

Step 5

Now let’s cut the green part of the carrot.

Cut along the contour and along the dashed lines.

Step 6

Glue the smaller part to the larger part.

Wait for the glue to dry.

Step 7

Glue the green part to the back of the orange part.

Let the glue dry.

Step 8

Woohoo, your paper carrot craft is done!

Now rinse and repeat until you have a whole field of carrots to use.
