These particular paper Christmas ornaments are my all time favorite! I went a little crazy for them as a kid, as we would make them as Christmas decorations in class, along with paper snowflakes.
When I realized that the thinner the paper slots, the larger and more intricate the decorations became, I made many, each one trying to be bigger and more extravagant than the last. So simple and oh so beautiful.
When I was a kid we made these from regular white paper, but I also think the colorful version looks amazing.
Especially green because you can even decorate it with a star on top and some paper ornaments (or pom poms) like Christmas ornaments. What a great Christmas activity for a classroom party.
Want to learn how to make these? Let’s get crafting.
What you need:
Additional colored paper if you want to decorate further.
If you are using regular paper, cut the paper into squares.
Fold the paper diagonally to form a triangle.
Now fold the triangle in half (you will have another triangle).
It’s time to cut back.
Start at the top and make sure the cut is parallel to the bottom edge of the triangle. Cut close to the top – but don’t cut all the way through.
Go back and cut from the other side – to the other side, but don’t cut all the way through.
Turn around and repeat the movement (and repeat it many times) until you reach the bottom.
Unfold the paper slowly (the paper may get stuck in some places).
Hold in the middle – thread a string to hang and hang.
If you want to turn it into a Christmas tree decoration, add decorations – a paper star on the top, tassels or hanging paper ornaments.
Your super simple paper Christmas decorations are finished and ready to hang.
