Peek a Boo Bunny in Carrot Paper Craft

We have an easy craft you can make with your kids this Easter. This carrot bunny paper craft is great for preschoolers and older kids.

We’ve been playing the split battery game lately.

Today we figured out how to use them in this craft – we hide the Easter bunny inside a carrot, and when you open the carrot, the bunny pops out holding a bunch of Easter eggs.

This is truly a lovely piece of craftsmanship.

How to make this carrot paper bunny

What you need:

orange cardboard
light orange paper
green paper
split pin
glue
drag
round hole punching machine
circular ruler
pencil
White paper
light blue paper
washi tape
black marker
white marker or white gel pen or white pencil (optional, if you want to add texture to the carrots at the end)

Step by step instructions

A carrot

On orange cardboard, draw a carrot. We provide dimensions so you can see how big it is.

Cut carrots.

Poke a circle on the carrot (the circle should be about 3 cm from the top of the carrot).

Draw a circle larger than the circle you punched out. This larger circle should be 4.4 cm in diameter. We will use a circular ruler to draw it.

Cut out the circle.

Mechanism

This circle should be large enough to cover the carrot hole and have enough free space to push the split pin through the top of the circle.

Now push a split pin through the top of the circle and through the carrot.

Split the two ends of the pin in half so that the circle sticks firmly to the carrot.

If you want to make a different type of carrot like the one pictured, split it in half and push the split pin through one side of the carrot as shown.

That way it will open on the side.

Carrot leaves

Draw three carrot leaves on a piece of green paper.

Cut them out.

Arrange the leaves as shown in this picture and glue them together.

Then glue the leaves to the carrots.

The back of the carrot will look like this.

Now draw a circle 4.4 cm in diameter on the light orange paper.

Cut it out.

Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the carrot, around the punched hole, but only to the top and sides of the carrot.

Leave the bottom of the hole punched with glue.

Attach the light orange circle.

Notice the part without glue in this picture? Would you do the same?

Okay, this is what the two carrots look like right now.

Rabbit
