Supplies to make pirate paper bag puppets

Instructions step by step

If you want, you can print the template (you can find it at the end of this article) and cut it out.

Next, cut a few large squares of construction paper and glue them onto the paper bag. Stick them on the side where the square bottom can be flipped up, and you can also paint the paper bag.

Step 1

Cut and glue strips of paper onto the bag to create stripes for the shirt (or repaint them).

For the pirate belt, tape a strip of brown paper across the paper bag.

Cut off excess paper with scissors.

Step 2

You’ve created a pirate wearing a striped shirt… Now create one wearing a vest.

Cut the circle in half, create a signature shape at the bottom and glue the vest to the pirate’s shirt (see picture below). Use paper to add details.

Step 4

There are many other ways you can dress your pirate – have some fun with it.

Make belts

Let’s complete the belt. For the buckle, cut rectangles from foam or yellow glitter cardstock and glue them onto the pirate’s belt.

Next, cut a small rectangle, smaller than the yellow rectangle, from black paper and glue it to the middle of the belt.

Step 3

Move to the beginning. You can draw the first pattern on flesh-toned paper. Cut out and glue onto the top of the paper bag.

Step 5

Let’s make a bandana! The outline is included in our template so you can draw the bandana pattern on colored paper, cut it out and glue it to the top of the pirate’s head.

It’s time to get your hair done. Cut pieces of hair from different colored paper and tuck under a bandana or hat while the glue is still wet.

Step 6

Eardrop? Why not :).

Step 6-1

No need to just wear a bandana, why not have a pirate with a proper pirate hat.

Step 7

Make faces

Now let’s make the face. Start by tracing the eye pattern onto white and black cardboard. Glue the eyes together (or use a black marker) and stick them on the pirate’s face.

Mustache? Why not – find the sketch on the printable template.

Step 8

You can also add eyelashes to the pirate girl.

Step 9

Draw the nose and mouth with a black marker. You can also draw a new unshaven beard with a marker.

What would a pirate do without his sword. Make one and glue it to your pirate puppet (template included).
