But let’s get back to the red-nosed reindeer in hand (you can actually easily make a brown-nosed reindeer too).

This design is based on the classic paper puppet design that most of you may know, but I thought it would also be useful as a printable template. Especially for a home Christmas party or as an activity to do in the classroom during the holidays.

In my opinion, making Christmas crafts with your kids is one of the best ways to create memories (if your kids are into crafts or arts) and I really hope this puppet will be a great invitation for a creative session… And even inspiration for creating more festive characters.

They are also great to use as gifts at your Christmas party, especially if you have a lot of young children who need to be entertained.

I actually recommend using thicker printer paper as it will make the reindeer paper puppets more durable and easier to “work”.

However, folding thicker paper is a bit more difficult, so it may not be suitable for younger children (preschoolers will have problems).

Color the pattern.

All the parts to be colored are large enough for little hands to grasp and can be colored with any material.

You can even make your reindeer puppet look more festive by adding a glitter accent on the nose.

I recommend using biodegradable glitter, as we all know regular glitter is not for the faint of heart. Especially if the bottle falls on the floor :).

Once you have colored all the pieces of the pattern, take the piece with the reindeer body and fold along the dotted lines.

Fold. Unfold.

Fold the printed side facing the desk into thirds (lengthwise).

Apply glue to the third section marked with the word glue, and press the “opposite” third section onto that third section. Let the glue dry.

If you feel your paper reindeer puppet needs a pair of legs as well, you can add them.
