These pop-up cards are our favorite, the heart craft we did a while back was such a hit that more fun designs were needed. Since Christmas is the perfect time to give cards (or crafts with messages), the reindeer design had to be done.

You can color this deer into a regular happy deer, or by coloring the nose red (and adding some glitter) turn it into Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Either way, this deer is sure to turn heads.

I have designed a simple template that can be used as a template and let children design their own reindeer faces, or can be coloured in and used as is. I also hope that children will be inspired to design their own festive (or other) characters.

Let’s make Christmas crafts!

The next step is a bit difficult to explain (best to watch the video tutorial posted above).

There are two diagonal folds – and one horizontal fold. Focus on the horizontal fold – you need to tuck it in.

You need to push both sides inwards. You will see the shape of the face.

Write your message on the card (we wrote it after gluing the craft stick on, but that’s not the best option ;).

Svg%3E

Apply glue to one end of the craft stick.

Svg%3E

Glue it to the back of the reindeer head.

Svg%3E

Time to decorate your reindeer. Glue a bow under the head, onto the craft stick.

Glue antlers and ears to the inside of the paper craft.

The final detail is the Christmas hat. This hat is what makes this card so interesting – as it will keep the card closed until the recipient opens it to read the message.

Stick it to a small clothespin (regular glue) or to a paper clip (with clear tape).

Close the card and clip it to the hat.

Done!
