What I love most about this card is that you can make it super easy for younger kids – just use one “layer” for the tree, or make it more complicated for older kids and adults by making your tree multi-layered as each layer is harder to fold and requires more fine motor skills.

No matter how many layers you use, this tree will still look super cute. You can just use paper, or you can decorate it and add glitter or gems to make it look more festive.

You don’t need to have this card either as it looks so pretty when “unfolded” it would be a great project for the classroom.

Are you ready to make your own Christmas tree pop up card?

For younger children, you may only need one larger circle, while older children may need more.

And again. Crease each fold, we want them to be as sharp as possible.

Open up. Now comes the “tricky” part. Especially when you have smaller circles.

Open the semicircle, looking at the fold in the middle. Make a mountain fold.

Svg%3E

With the middle fold being the mountain fold, fold all the folds to the right and left in a “zigzag” pattern – mountain fold, valley fold, mountain fold, valley.

Svg%3E

Cut a small brown rectangle and glue it to the cardboard, in the middle of the fold, to make the trunk.

Svg%3E

Taking the folded half circle, apply glue to the back of the final folds on both sides (remember the middle fold should be a mountain fold, facing up).

Svg%3E

Glue the card to form an A shape – the middle fold should line up with the fold on the card.

Svg%3E

If you make multiple circles of different sizes, glue them in the same way, overlapping them slightly until you reach the desired height of the tree.

Svg%3E

Cut a star out of yellow paper and glue it to the top of the tree.

And that’s it, you’ve created a beautiful Christmas tree pop up card.
