We love simple Christmas cards, but we love them even more when they’re extra pretty (just check out our Silhouette Christmas cards, they’re super easy to make and look gorgeous).

This card is definitely made to impress! It is easy for kids to make but their scissor skills should be good enough to cut the spirals thinly. If your child or student can do this, this little card could be the card of the season.

Let’s make one!

How to make a spiral Christmas tree card

What you need

  • a card – you can make your own from construction paper (i think red looks great) or buy blank cards
  • green paper (or other color)
  • yellow paper for star
  • drag
  • glue

You can also add details with glitter glue.

Fold the base of the Christmas card. We chose a red base because it contrasts nicely with the green Christmas tree.

Cut a circle out of green paper, the circle should fit the card – the bigger the better. There are lots of things you can use as a mold – cups, lids, mugs…

Now cut that circle into a spiral. The thinner the spiral, the better – of course younger children will make smaller spirals, but older children and adults can make pretty good spirals.

You can even make it prettier by using patterned scissors.

Apply glue to the outer spiral “ring.” Glue it to the inside of the card. Let the glue dry. If you want to add a sparkly touch to your tree, now is the time.

Cut a star out of yellow paper and glue it to the top of the tree (on the card).
