We have another simple paper craft idea to share with you today. We love all the variety that simple paper strips bring when it comes to crafts (and these girls prove it).

Chicks really are adorable little creatures, don’t you think? And Easter is the time of year when their popularity really, really peaks.

If you’re looking for a fun chicken craft idea for your classroom, this is it because you can easily “thread” them onto a string and make a beautiful wreath. You don’t even have to limit yourself (or your kids) to just yellow for this project. Use colored chalk and you’ll have a variety of beautiful Easter chicks.

Of course this is also a great project to do with your kids at home.

Ready? Grab your scissors or paper cutter and let’s get started.

Or follow these simple step-by-step instructions

Start by cutting strips of yellow construction paper. We cut them to the width of an A4/letter sized sheet of paper. The strips are about the width of a finger.

You will need 4 strips of paper for each chick.

If you are working with younger children, you can make the strips wider and use only two strips.

Conversely, older children can cut thinner strips and use more.

Step 1

Gently fold the strips of paper in half – do not crease.

This will make it easier to locate the middle.

Step 2

Apply glue to the center of a strip of paper.

Glue works well for paper projects. White school glue works well too, but it takes a little longer to set.

Step 3

Glue another strip of paper to the first strip, forming a cross.

Press down with your finger to set the glue.

Step 4

Glue two more strips of yellow cardboard.

You should now see a snowflake like shape.

Step 5

Time to make fried chicken :).

Apply glue to one strip of paper (one end) and glue the other end together, forming a circle.

Step 7

Repeat with all other strips of cardboard.

When all the strips are glued together, a ball shape will form.

Step 8

Cut two wings out of cardboard.

Step 10

Glue the wings to the ball. We glue them to both sides of the same strip of paper.

Fold it a little so that you can see the wings clearly when you look at the chick from the front.

Step 11

Cut out a beak shape from orange cardstock.

Glue the beak to the paper ball.

Step 13

Last but not least, add two eye stickers or draw your own eyes with a marker.

Stickers are always a little more fun, though.

Step 14

Your simple paper chicken craft is done!
