We love making cute little turkey crafts, especially when we use frugal materials – like paper, we love making paper crafts.
This one will be done in a jiffy, you can use regular printer paper or craft paper to make it. We have one standing proudly on our shelf by itself but you could also make a few and with some yarn threaded through the ends make a beautiful DIY fall wreath.
Want to take it to the next level?
Why not make a giant one out of cardboard or other thick paper (poster paper) and put a giant handmade turkey in your classroom or in your home. We are pretty sure that children will love to participate in such a project.

Follow the step-by-step instructions with pictures
Cut a wide strip of brown paper.
Cut another strip that is thinner and slightly shorter than the first strip.Apply glue to one end of the strip.Roll into a cylinder and let the glue set.Do the same with the other one.If you’re working with craft paper, the glue will take longer to set – we often use clothespins to hold the paper in place while the glue dries.
Stick the two shoulders together, one shoulder on top of the other. You have just finished the turkey body.
Place the turkey body on a piece of orange paper, draw around the turkey body and add two turkey legs.Cut the legs and base out of orange paper.Apply glue to the sole.
Press the turkey body onto the base and wait (or use clothespins) for the glue to dry.Cut a small beak from orange paper.Stick it on the turkey’s head. Also, keep your eyes glued to your head.
Place the turkey on a piece of paper (we chose red as the first color).Draw a tail around the body.
Cut the tail – you will get a nice effect if you use zigzag (or similar) scissors. Now place that tail on top of another sheet of paper (the next sheet of paper is orange).Draw feather tails around the first shape.
Cut it out.Glue the first piece on top of the second piece. Now create another one (or even more)Glue them all together.Apply a generous amount of glue to the middle of the first tail section.Press into the turkey body.Leave it for a while to let the glue harden.
Done! What a great little turkey!
