We have another product in our insect puppet series, this time we will be making one of my least favorite scary spiders (I am afraid of spiders) using the spider paper hand puppet template.
*This article contains affiliate links*While I am not usually afraid of insects, when it comes to these creepy crawlies with eight legs, I get scared when I see them. And I swear they know it because they tend to lunge at me. My inner voice of reason tries to fill me in with reason, since we live in a place where there are no poisonous or dangerous spiders, but irrational fear always wins out.
This is one of those fears that I hope to overcome one day (I have progressed from when I was a kid, when I couldn’t even touch a picture of a spider, but now I can tolerate tiny spiders – like tiny spiders). I don’t hate spiders, I think they are fascinating… From a very, very far away place.
But this adorable spider paper puppet is completely different… And completely fearless! Its silly legs will wiggle as you move it.
Ready to create one? Feel free to use our template (you can find it at the end of this tutorial) and start playing this creepy crawly game!

Print out or make a spider puppet template. Any type of paper will work (we recommend thicker paper if you plan on coloring with markers).
If you plan on coloring your spider puppet, we recommend coloring it before cutting as it will be easier.Cut out the spider parts.
Trace the body shape onto black paper (cardboard is best).
Cut off the stem.Draw and cut out legs from grey paper.Fold the legs – zigzag – this will make them look more fancy.Glue the legs to the underside of the body.Completely optional, but it adds an extra creepy factor to this spider – you can add a small red cross-shaped star or any other spider-shaped decoration.Add a wrist strap and you’re done.Get the spider paper puppet pattern here
