Spider Paper Plate Craft

This is a fun Spider Paper Plate Craft that kids will love!

We thought this would be a great Halloween activity for the children to do – and the spider can move up and down in its web.

Paper plate spider

Spider craft is a great activity for young children as it helps them develop their fine motor skills.

Make your own spider-shaped paper plate

Plus, it’s just plain fun! So go ahead and try it out – your kids will definitely love it.

How to make spider-shaped paper plates

What you need:

  • printable template
  • paper plate
  • pencil
  • black marker
  • drag
  • glue
  • acrylic paint (blue and white)
  • paint brush
  • white yarn
  • White paper
  • colored paper (red, black, purple and gray)

Materials used

Step-by-step instructions

Paint the paper plate green.

Step 0

Cut the tracing pattern.

Step 1

Draw the spider’s body on purple paper, then cut it out.

Step 2

Draw the head on gray paper, then go ahead and cut it out.

Step 3

You will want to draw the eyes on white paper and then cut them out.

Step 4

Continue drawing the mouth on the red paper and cut it out.

Step 5

Draw eight legs on black paper and cut them out.

Step 6

Glue the eyes and mouth to the head.

Step 7

Draw the inside of the eyes, eyebrows and smiling mouth.

Step 8

Create stripes on the purple stem using a black marker.

Step 9

Attach the legs.

Step 10

Glue on top.

Step 11

Paint the spider web in one corner of the paper with white paint.

Step 12

Make two holes. The first one will be near our spider web at the top of the paper plate.

Step 13

The second hole will be at the bottom of the paper plate.

Step 14

Take your yarn and pull it through the hole.

Step 15

Pull the yarn down and through the hole in the bottom of the paper plate.

Step 16

Connect the end of the thread on the back of the paper plate and make a knot.

Step 17

Glue the spider onto the thread.

Step 18

Drag the spider up and down – make sure it moves smoothly.

Step 19

The finished product is this fun spider with so much personality!

Step 20

We love how our spider turned out!
