Swirly Paper Ladybug Craft

Since we love ladybugs so much, we’re really excited to share this swirly paper ladybug craft tutorial with you. It comes with a twist.

Although this craft can be done without a template, we’ve created a template for it (both a single craft version and a class version) that you can get from the members area of we.

Today we used paper again for our ladybug and you can see how different it is from all the other ladybugs we’ve made so far!

How to make ladybug swirl paper crafts

What you need:

Optional: samples from our member library

  • green paper
  • red paper
  • black cardboard
  • glue or hot glue
  • self-adhesive googly eyes
  • drag
  • black lining
  • pencil

Be crafty!

Instructions step by step

Draw a leaf on green paper.

Step 1

Cut the leaf with scissors.

Step 2

Cut a red stripe (A4 horizontal size – vertical cut).

Step 3

Draw 8 freehand circles on black cardboard.

Step 4

Cut out the black circles with scissors.

Step 5

Cut 6 thin rectangles out of black cardboard.

Step 6

Draw the head of a ladybug on black cardstock and the extension below it.

Step 7

Cut off the head with scissors.

Step 8

Draw two whiskers on black cardstock with circles on top.

Step 9

Cut beard with scissors.

Step 10

On red paper, draw a small smiling mouth.

Step 11

Cut out the small mouth with scissors.

Step 12

Apply some glue to the leaf and glue one end of the red stripe.

Step 13

Now form a circle with red stripes, then seal it with glue.

Step 14

Make another circle with red stripes and seal it with glue.

Step 15

Form a third circle with red stripes, glue and cut off the excess paper.

Step 16

Start adding black dots. Add three dots to the first red circle.

Step 17

Add two black dots to the middle red circle and three black dots to the third red circle.

Step 18

Attach the legs (thin rectangle).

Place three on each side of the ladybug’s body.

Step 19

Fold in the marked places (between the head and extension) and glue the head.

Step 20

Add two whiskers on top of the head using glue.

Step 21

Glue the smiling mouth.

Step 22

Attach self-adhesive googly eyes on the head.

Step 23

Finished!
