We found it really interesting that there are so many ways to make a ladybug from the same material – isn’t that cool?

Today we used paper again to make a ladybug and you can see how different this ladybug is from the others we have made so far!

If you love ladybugs like we do (and we really do), grab your tools and let’s get started.

How to make a ladybug craft with swirl paper

What you need:

Optional: templates from our member library

  • green paper
  • red paper
  • black cardboard
  • glue or hot glue
  • Self adhesive googly eyes
  • drag
  • black pencil
  • pencil

Let’s create!

Step by step instructions

Draw a leaf on a green sheet of paper.

Use scissors to cut the leaves.

Cut a red stripe (horizontal A4 paper – cut vertically).

Draw 8 freehand circles on black cardboard.

Use scissors to cut out black circles.

Cut 6 thin rectangles from black cardboard.

Draw the ladybug head on the black cardboard and the opening underneath.

Use scissors to cut off the top.

Draw two antennae on black cardboard with circles on top.

Use scissors to cut off the beard.

On the red paper, draw a small smiling mouth.

Use scissors to cut out the small mouth.

Apply some glue to the leaf and glue one end of the red stripe.

Now make a circle with red stripes, then seal it with glue.

Make another circle with red stripes and seal it with glue.

Make a third circle with red stripes, seal with glue and cut off the excess paper.

Start adding black dots. Add three dots to the first red circle.

Add two black dots to the middle red circle and three black dots to the third red circle.

Attach the legs (thin rectangle).

Place three on each side of the ladybug’s body.

Fold the marked area (between the head and the seam) and glue the head back.

Use glue to add two more antennae to the head.

Smile

Glue self-adhesive googly eyes to the head.

Finished!

Our ladybug is ready to rest on this green leaf after its long flight today.

So create a safe space in the room and let her enjoy life.

Aren’t they cute?

You can do as much as you want.

Happy crafting!
