It’s time to get silly with this Talking Fish Paper Craft. While this isn’t the easiest fish craft or the easiest origami, the end result is worth the effort. I mean, you will create a talking fish!

It is an origami fish, but not an ordinary fish.

This fish can talk.

We have a lot of fun playing with it. This is a great toy to carry around when you’re bored.

A talking fish, woo-hoo! What could be cooler than that?

How to make a talking fish out of paper

What you need:

  • A4 sheet of paper
  • 2 divine eyes
  • drag
  • glue
  • white acrylic paint and cotton swab (if you want to add dots on the paper fish)

Materials used

Let’s start!

Instructions step by step

Fold a square and cut off the excess paper with scissors.

Step 1

Fold the triangle in half.

Follow the pictures provided carefully!

Step 2-1

Fold the triangle into two equal parts, one triangle and one rectangle.

Step 4

Open the folds and fold the rectangular part over.

Step 5

Fold a triangle out of the rectangular part.

Step 6

Fold a small triangle on the same side…

Step 7

…and opened it.

Step 7-2

Fold a small long triangle.

Step 8

Fold a small triangle at the corner.

Step 9

Open the folded paper. Now we will start assembling the fish.

Step 10

Fold two opposite triangle corners.

Step 11-1

Fold two longer triangles on each side.

Pop out a small triangle in the middle…

…by folding the middle inwards.

It will look like this.

Fold the square in the middle.

Step 13

Take the two opposite sides that have no creases and start pushing them together so that the square is pressed inward.

Step 14

Notice how the paper should look now.

Step 15

See if you folded everything properly.

Fold a long triangle.

Step 17

Fold a long triangle on the opposite side. Now we have two tails.

Step 18

Open the square that we pressed inside.

Step 19

Fold the two tails into the square…

…as shown in the picture.

Apply a little glue between them and use your fingers to press the parts together until the glue dries.

Step 21

And hold it firmly.

Apply some glue on the googly eyes and stick them on the head.

Open the 3D fish and make it talk.
