Unicorns are magical and we love them so much, we’ve shared quite a few fun tutorials already – like this tutorial on how to draw a unicorn or the many fun unicorn crafts and activities we have in our members-only area.
This toilet paper roll craft will be especially popular with fairy tale lovers (usually children).
Ready to make a dish or two? Let’s get crafty!
What you need:
You can paint the rolls or wrap them in colored paper.
If wrapping in paper, cut a strip of paper as wide as the roll and tape it around the roll.
Now it’s time to make the mane and tail. Place 2-3 fingers together (2 for mane, 3 for tail), depending on the size you’re making, and wrap the yarn around them several times until you have a thick “loop” of yarn.
Gently pull the yarn off your finger (you should see a “loop” or “circle”). Tie the yarn off, keeping the circle (think of the ring on a necklace). Cut the circle of yarn, close to the knot you tied. Trim the shape if needed.
Repeat with the tail (using 3-4 fingers).
Glue the yarn mane to the inside of the toilet paper tube, leaving a portion of the yarn sticking out and covering the toilet paper roll.
Glue the larger tail to the middle of the toilet paper tube at the back.
Cut out the horn shape and glue it onto the mane.
Cut ears out of cardboard, glue onto mane or roll of paper.
Draw eyes with black marker (you can also use googly eyes).
Dip your finger in pink paint or dip the eraser (from a pencil with an eraser) in paint and dab it onto the roll of blush to create blush.
Done! You have made a unicorn toilet paper roll.
