When it comes to winter crafts and polar animals, walruses are definitely one of the most interesting – kids are easily fascinated by their oversized tusks.
This ivory craft focuses on the tusks and we think it looks really interesting.
What you need:
Print out a pop-up card template – you can choose a black and white template for kids to color first.
Once you have printed the card (and colored it if printing a black and white version), cut out the outline of the card (rectangle).
Also, cut off the tusks, set aside – we will need them in the final step.
Fold the walrus pop-up card along the center line – marked with the dashed line.
The design must be done on the outside of the folded card.
Next, cut a line along the mouth line (marked with a straight line).
You will see two dashed diagonal lines on the walrus’s head, fold along those lines – you can fold back and forth.
Open the card and slowly fold (close) the card so that the design is on the inside.
Push your finger into the mouth as you close the card – so the folded mouth will stay in place.
This is exactly what you should see.
Rub your hands through the folds to make them nice and crispy.
Fold the red background cardboard in half.
Place the folded card inside, apply glue to one side and stick it together.
Apply glue to the other side and close the red card.
Let the glue dry. Once dry, open the cardboard and glue the walrus tusk onto the snout (in the designated area).
And that’s it, your walrus card is ready!
