Some of the best adult coloring books available

1. Creative Haven Cat Coloring Book by Marjorie Sarnat

Okay, I admit I might be a little biased here because I’m a total cat lover, ha! But seriously, this coloring book has some great pages for coloring all the cats. So you have a steampunk cat, a king and queen cat, a space themed cat and many more, each page is full of fun details about the cat and background allowing you to bring the experience to life. Really colorful experience. The designs are only one-sided and the paper is quite thick (Sharpies can bleed) but you can easily tear out a page and color it yourself without worrying about ruining the others (because we can all get a little carried away). momentum).

2. The Secret Garden and the Dark Treasure Hunt by Johanna Basford

You will get lost (in a very good way) in this section, the illustrations are breathtaking! There are lots of details to color in on each page and the paper quality is great! However, it’s double-sided so I don’t recommend coloring with markers as they tend to smudge – but if you use colored pencils or gel ink pens (they’re great, by the way) you’ll really like it. this type of pen.

If you need a little positivity in your life (and who doesn’t?) then this adult coloring book is just the thing for you! Perforations on each page (printed on one side) make it easy to remove the pages, making them easy to color and frame later if you choose to do so.

As the name suggests, this adult coloring book is full of detailed coloring pages (some crazy detailed) with all kinds of patterns designed to put your mind at ease. It’s best to use gel pens or colored pencils.

5. Animorphia: Extreme search and coloring challenge by Kerby Rosanes

This is crazy (also a bit wacky)! But I love the designs! The main theme is animals, but there are millions of tiny creatures and objects implemented in each design, all leading up to a crazy doodling and coloring adventure (because there are space where you can complement your designs by adding your own doodle art).

There’s something about owls, right? They have become a trending topic almost everywhere in the past few years – fabric, jewelry (you’ve probably seen owl necklaces at some point) and in crafts , so why shouldn’t they be “a thing” when it comes to adult coloring books? As with other Creative Haven books, the quality of both the design and paper is top-notch and you can easily take out the pages to color or frame. Think of this as a must-have in every adult coloring book collection (just to be trendy).

8. Doodle Invasion: Zifflin’s Coloring Book

Some suggestions for coloring supplies

I’ll be writing a more in-depth post soon about what and why I use when coloring adult coloring books, but here’s a quick list of some of the pens, pencils, and markers I like to use. use!

Sharpie markers – I really love the vibrant colors they come in and the way they blend (tip, you will get different shades if you blend the two markers while still wet on the paper or if you paint one color over another while the first color is still wet and has already dried). Be aware though these babies can bleed through almost anything!!! So make sure you protect the other pages in your coloring book (that’s why I love Creative Haven’s easy-to-remove-from-the-book-and-color-in punched pages).

Gel Pens, Fiskars is a great brand! While these usually don’t cause bleeding, I would be mindful of using the “cheap brand” (not that these are really expensive) and would try it before diving into the world of coloring (because I had a bad experience with “no name” ”brand although to be honest there only seemed to be one brand that bled).

Prismacolor colored pencils – these are other must-haves! They make coloring more relaxing! However, it is extremely important to get good quality products (like these) because again, “no name” brands bring more disappointment than joy because of the color Lack of color, no shading or blending well.

Metalic Marker – this will add some “pizazz” to your creations! A must have in your collection – although again these do leak out quite often.
